Alia Bhatt has had a great start to 2019 thanks to her much-awaited film Gully Boy, slated to release on February 14. Based on the emerging underground hip-hop scene in Mumbai, the movie sees Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles. In the movie, Ranveer Singh, whose character is based on the lives of rappers Divine and Naezy, plays the part of a driver’s son who lives in Mumbai’s slums and aspires to be a rap artist, while Alia Bhatt plays a young, feisty medical student.
Bhatt’s promotional journey for Gully Boy has been everything you’d expect from her bold and fiery character. In January, the actor kick-started her promotions at the trailer launch event with a statement off-shoulder dress by Jonathan Simkhai, styled with a pair of bright shoes by Aldo. Her subsequent showcases saw her swinging from maximalist high-shine outfits—like that scarf print top and green sequinned skirt by Giuseppe di Morabito, or the fully sequinned cropped jacket and pants set by Fyodor Golan—to easy-going dresses.
