After Maamanithan, Vijay Sethupathi to act in a romantic musical film
Vijay Sethupathi, who recently starred in his landmark 25th film Seethakaathi, received mixed reviews from the audience and critics. The actor makes it a point to act in at least four films in a year.
Currently, the Vikram Vedha actor is shooting for director Seenu Ramasamy's Maamanithan in Kerala. After wrapping up this ongoing schedule, Sethupathi will move on to his next flick, which will be directed by debutant Venkata Krishna Roghanth.
The exciting part of this film is that it is a romantic musical film, which will be shot in and around a church. Speaking to a daily, the director said, "The entire film happens during two months - December and January - amidst Christmas and New Year revelry. So, a church forms the major backdrop. As per the script, we need it to be a really old church. After scouting for one and not finding any, we realised that it would be better if we erected a set of the church. Our producer Esakki Durai also agreed to this. Since the church has to be situated in a hill station, art director John Britto has taken references for its architecture from the actual designs of British and Indian architects of that time."
Also, Vijay Sethupathi will be sporting a new look for the untitled movie. "His character is more like that of a tramp, and he will have the look of a freaky musician," Venkata Krishnan revealed.
Nivas Prasanna of Sethupathi and Thegidi fame has been roped in to compose music for the film. He travelled to the US to research about musical films.
"The music has to be a mix of western classical and folk, and Nivas felt that it would be better if we recorded the music in the US, so he went there for a few days to do the background work," the director shared.
